The Founder’s Journey and the Touch 3 Mission
The Vision
Smitha Kumar founded Touch 3 Volleyball in 2012 with a singular mission: to make the game of volleyball accessible, enjoyable, and technically sound for players of all ages. ​​

Built on the founding principle of mastering strong fundamental skills at an affordable cost, Touch 3 has grown from a local initiative into a premier Bay Area institution, fueled by word-of-mouth and a decade-and-a-half of community trust.

A Proven Track Record

Touch 3 is a year-round skill development program designed to build the technical confidence that transforms the game of volleyball into a lifelong passion.

Touch 3 prepares athletes across the full spectrum of play: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. This mission has delivered consistent results: 90% of participants successfully secure spots on their School and Club teams every year

Professional Credentials
Smitha brings over four decades of elite competitive experience to the court. Her journey began at the Varsity and National levels in India before she became a fixture in the San Francisco Bay Area volleyball scene in 2000.
A decorated veteran of the sport, Smitha has represented California senior teams for nearly two decades. Her international resume includes over 15 years at the Huntsman World Senior Games, as well as competing in the World Masters in New Zealand and Taiwan. Most recently, she was a member of the Gold Medal-winning team at the 2025 National Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa.

Smitha is proud to launch the first-ever Touch 3 Masters League in Silicon Valley (Ages 45+) on August 15th & 16th, 2026

Expanding the Legacy
Driven by a lifelong passion, Smitha has curated a coaching powerhouse by onboarding experienced players and coaches from her own professional journey. Together, the Touch 3 team represents more than 200 man-years of combined volleyball experience.
This deep well of expertise is dedicated to managing a program that does more than just teach drills—it builds technical mastery, competitive confidence, and a lifelong passion for the game. Looking forward, Smitha remains dedicated to empowering the next generation of athletes and entrepreneurs to follow in these footsteps, ensuring that the Touch 3 mission continues to 'Step, Leap, and Jump' to greater heights.
